Think you have what it takes to be a Viking? Do you
like to brew or ferment your own beverages? Then we have something
extra special for you!!!
We are proud to present
the
Great Eastern Bragrfull!
What the heck is a Bragrfull?
Bragrfull is best translated as "best cup"; it refers to
part of a Scandinavian drinking ritual where the best libations were
shared in ceremony, absent of the usual feasting and raucous celebration.
What does it mean for you?
Brewers and vintners get a raw deal in A&S. Often they aren't
included at all because of site rules or age restrictions. Similarly,
they might be lumped in with general cooking or forced to compete
against cocktails.
Vinters, brewers, this is your time to shine.
Bring or send your best brew(s). Our judges will do their thing and
name the Harbinger of Ægir.
Rules:
- Entries must not be of a dangerous or hallucinogenic nature (methanol,
wormwood, etc.)
- Entry descriptions should include the alcohol type and brewing
method, special methods or formulations, and approximate strength.
Tell us anything and everything you think will help us understand
your craft.
After the contest, entrants and those interested in
learning the craft are encouraged to participate in a round-table
discussion to share techniques, stories, recipes and anything else
that might encourage the growth of a thriving community of brewers
and vintners in our Kingdom.
Last, but certainly not least, the bragrfull will also include a bottle
swap. Those who enter are encouraged to bring as many extra bottles
as they would like to trade for competing deliciousness.
Judges:
For anyone interested in being a judge - get in touch with me. Please
note that I will not be demanding ingredient lists for each entries
Judges participate at their own risk for food allergies and possible
overindulgence. Judges must also be of legal US drinking age by May
2012 to be considered.
